NFIB/Illinois State Director Kim Clarke Maisch was a guest on “The Will Stephens Show” on WXAN-103.9 FM in Ava. She explained why NFIB and small business is opposed to a proposed increase in the state minimum wage:
Maisch said small businesses simply can’t afford to give employees a 30-percent pay increase. She also disputed claims that a higher minimum wage would lift working people out of poverty. “The vast majority of people who make minimum wage are actually teenagers and in college” and aren’t their families sole breadwinners.
