Liquor Store Separation Bill Fails in House

April 14, 2015, Tallahassee – Statement from National Federation of Independent Business/Florida’s Legislative Director Tim Nungesser on HB107.

“The failure of HB107 is a major victory for small business, ensuring that small, independent liquor stores will live to fight another day.

“This bill was nothing but a blatant attempt by mega retailers to push small, independent liquor stores out of the marketplace. Giving big businesses such a pronounced advantage over small independent stores would have killed neighborhood retailers and the jobs that come along with them.

“Too often we see the big guy trampling the little guy, but this represents a win for the independent retailers of Main Street.”
