How to Get Involved with NFIB/NJ!

Date: September 02, 2014

NFIB/NJ
works tirelessly to make sure your voice hard in Trenton. However, we are most
effective when NFIB members communicate directly with their legislators. New
Jersey legislators know that you hold the key to their political future; you
are the ones who elect them to office, they know how important it is that they
listen to their constituents.  It is
vital that they hear personal stories from you about how legislation could
potentially impact your business.

We
understand that as a small business owner you have limited time to make
commitments, but there are a variety of ways that you can get involved in the
policy making process, some of which will take very little time out of your
day.

Here
are some small ways you can make a big impact:

Call or write
your legislators:

this is a quick and easy way to communicate with your legislators. You can
click here to find the contact information for your representatives.  Also, be on the
lookout for NFIB email alerts and visit our website for information about legislation
that could affect your small business. We can help you draft your email or
letter and can provide you with talking points.

Talk to the
press:

NFIB/NJ receives press requests asking for members to talk about how certain
law and legislation impact their businesses. Please let us know if you are
interested in speaking about your business to the press. NFIB will help prepare
you for the interview and guide you through the process.

Meet with our
State Director, Laurie Ehlbeck:
please reach out directly to our
State Director if there is legislation or regulations that would directly
impact your business [email protected].

Write a
Letter to the Editor:

letters to the Editor bring attention to issues affecting your business. This
is a localized way to inform your community.
We can help you draft your letter and can provide you
with talking points.

Testify
before the Legislature:
we can help you prepare testimony, this is one of
the most powerful and effective ways to make the voice of small business heard
in Trenton.

Join our Small Business Task Force: this task
force is for NFIB members who want to take the next step beyond being an NFIB
member to protect small business rights in New Jersey. You will receive training
and one-on-one guidance to be our go-to voice of small business in your
community. We will also send you updates about legislation that could affect
your business. Even if you only have a small amount of time to give, we invite
you to join our Small Business Task Force

 We
understand that you may be hesitant or may be uncomfortable getting more involved, but
that’s what we are here for! We are here to teach you to become a top-notch
small business activist.
