Dawn Starns, state director of the National Federation of Independent Business, released the following statement today upon final approval of the House and Senate of House Bill 805, which included an NFIB-supported amendment exempting small businesses from a reduction in the state inventory tax credit:
“Today’s vote was a big relief for small businesses. Sen. Bret Allain’s amendment is going to help nearly 10,000 small businesses across the state get back the taxes they’ve paid.
“Without this amendment, these small, family businesses would be facing a significant increase in taxes that many of them simply couldn’t afford to pay.
“On behalf of our members, I want to thank the Legislature for taking a commonsense approach to addressing Louisiana’s budget shortfall without shifting the burden onto the backs of the state’s job creators. When you help small businesses succeed, you help everybody.”
