Jindal Signs Plumbing-Code Bill

Date: July 02, 2014

NFIB/Louisiana State Director Dawn Starns joined other business leaders today at a signing ceremony for HB 1048.

Gov. Bobby Jindal signed the pro-business bill, which brings clarity to the state’s construction codes and helps small businesses save time and money.

Previously, builders in the state had to follow the rules of the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code Council, except when it came to plumbing. By law, plumbing was overseen by the Department of Health and Hospitals—which used a different set of rules and regulations.

The passage of HB 1048 simplies the state’s construction code, improving efficiency and adopting the same International Plumbing Code that’s already used in 35 states, including Mississippi and Texas.
