Residents invited to weigh in on fees.
Interested stakeholders are invited to join DNR to discuss and share their perspectives on fees for air quality services. DNR is forming advisory groups for Title V emissions and application fees, major source construction permit and PSD permit application fees, minor source construction permit application fees, and asbestos notification fees.
Legislation passed by the 86th session of Iowa General Assembly (Senate File 488) established authority for the DNR to collect fees to fund activities associated with the Title V operating permit program and major and minor source construction permitting programs. DNR was also given authority to collect fees to implement and administer the asbestos national emission standard for hazardous air pollutants program. The legislation directs the DNR to convene fee advisory groups to obtain recommendations regarding fees for these programs. DNR expects fees to go into effect on January 1, 2016.
The advisory group meetings are scheduled as follows:
• Title V operating permit application fees: June 9 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.,
• Major source construction permit and PSD permit application fees: June 9 from 1 to 3 p.m.,
• Minor source construction permit application fees: June 10 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.,
• Asbestos notifications: June 10 from 1 to 3 p.m.
These meetings will be conducted at the Air Quality Bureau offices located at 7900 Hickman Rd., Suite 100, in Windsor Heights, IA. A conference call line will be available. Attendees are strongly encouraged to attend the meetings in person to enhance stakeholder interaction.
The advisory groups’ activities can be followed at www.iowadnr.gov/feegroups.
Please RSVP by June 5 and address questions to Wendy Walker at [email protected] or 515-725-9570. Please indicate which meeting(s) you plan to attend.
