Illinois' Small Businesses Were Big Winners on Election Day

Date: November 05, 2014

Kim Clarke Maisch, state director of the National Federation of Independent Business, released the following statement today concerning Tuesday’s elections:

“Tuesday was a great day for Illinois’ small businesses. Our members turned out to help elect a slate of pro-business candidates.

“Eighteen of the twenty-one Illinois state candidates endorsed by the NFIB Illinois SAFE Trust won on Tuesday; results are unofficial until certified by the Illinois State Board of Elections.

• Challenger Bruce Rauner won the governor’s race over incumbent Pat Quinn.
• Seventeen of the 20 endorsed legislative candidates won, including NFIB member Keith Wheeler. ‘

“On the federal level, eight of 10 NFIB-endorsed candidates won, including incumbents Peter Roskam, Rodney Davis, Randy Hultgren, Adam Kinzinger, Aaron Schock, and John Shimkus, while challengers Mike Bost and Bob Dold defeated the incumbents.

“NFIB is the voice of small business in Illinois and in Washington, D.C., and on Election Day, our voice was heard loud and clear. Tuesday’s victories were a big step toward our goal of promoting and protecting the right of our members to own, operate and grow their businesses.”

NFIB/Illinois is the state’s leading small-business association, with over 11,000 dues-paying members representing a cross section of the state’s economy.
