Missouri residents have a higher purchasing power than most states, a study found.
In some states, your dollar is worth more than in other states—and now we know just how much more. Missouri landed among the top-10 states where $100 went the farthest with a value of $112.11.
After analyzing regional price parities, the Bureau of Economic Analysis published its data for 2013 prices. The Tax Foundation then updated the value of $100 to put together a nationwide map showing how much a Benjamin will buy you in each state.
The Show Me State topped most neighboring states, including Iowa ($110.74), Illinois ($99.01), Kansas ($110.13), Nebraska ($110.50), Oklahoma ($111.23) and Tennessee ($110.38). However, Missouri was beat by Arkansas ($114.29) and Mississippi ($115.21).
