Do You Know How NFIB Decides Which Candidates to Endorse?

Date: June 20, 2014

NFIB supports the candidates in
both federal and state elections who support small business. How does our
endorsement process work?

Our endorsements are overseen by
our federal and state political action committees. Both the federal and state
PACs are called the SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust. The PACs are
comprised exclusively of NFIB members.

SAFE Trust endorsements are
based solely on each candidate’s position and record on key small-business
issues.

All congressional and
gubernatorial endorsements are determined by NFIB’s federal PAC board of
directors, which is comprised of NFIB members who serve on the NFIB national
board of directors. Legislative endorsements and endorsements for offices other
than governor are made by the state PAC boards.

NFIB’s endorsements are limited
to the candidates’ positions on small-business issues. Our PACs do not consider
their positions on social issues or party affiliation.
