Help Main Street on November 29

Date: November 18, 2014

BOISE, Idaho, Nov. 18, 2014—The state director for Idaho’s largest and leading small-business association today called for some media help in reminding their readers, viewers and listeners about the importance of the Small Business Saturday that follows Black Friday.
“The holiday shopping season is crucial to the state’s small businesses, which are still recovering from the slowdown in the economy,” said Suzanne Budge, Idaho state director for the National Federation of Independent Business. “According to the NFIB Small-Business Optimism Index for October, poor sales is the most important challenge facing small businesses, after government red tape and taxes.
“Small and independent business owners are among the most generous supporters of civic groups, local charities, youth sports, schools and virtually every other form of community activity. Shopping locally is a great way for people to help friends and neighbors create jobs and opportunities in the where we all live. I also hope people remember locally-owned businesses after Small Business Saturday is over.”
NFIB, America’s voice of small business, is helping small and independent businesses get the word out online about their best Small Business Saturday deals. Small business owners can visit www.NFIB.com/SBS to submit information about their business and why shoppers should visit on Nov. 29. NFIB will promote these submissions on NFIB.com and in front of NFIB’s 227,000 Facebook fans and 95,000 Twitter followers.
