Ill. 1st District Appellate Court VICTORY!

NFIB urged the appellate court to find that it is permissible for employers to be represented by non-attorneys in Illinois Department of Employment Security hearings on unemployment compensation claims. 

Status:  DECIDED.  Amicus brief filed in support of non-attorney representation on March 27, 2009. Oral argument scheduled for June 6, 2009.  Court determined non-attorney’s actions during UI hearing is not unauthorized practice of law.
