Georgia's Small Businesses Were Big Winners on Election Day

Date: November 05, 2014

Kyle Jackson, state director of the National Federation of Independent Business, has released the following statement:

“Thanks to strong support of our members, NFIB/Georgia helped elect pro-business candidates to state and federal office on Tuesday.

“All 14 Georgia state candidates endorsed by the NFIB SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust appear to have won on Tuesday. Results won’t be official until they’re certified. Our endorsed candidates include:

• Gov. Nathan Deal, Lt. Gov. Casey Cagel, Secretary of State Brian Kemp, Attorney General Sam Olens, Labor Commissioner Mark Butler and Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens.
• Eight of the endorsed legislative candidates in the Georgia House and Senate won, including NFIB members Ellis Black, Ross Tolleson and Darlene Taylor.

On the federal level, eight of NFIB’s endorsed candidates won, including:

• Senator-elect David Perdue
• Reps. Lynn Westmoreland, Tom Price, Rob Woodall, Austin Scott, Doug Collins, Tom Graves and Rep.-elect and NFIB member Buddy Carter.

The NFIB supported Constitutional Amendment 1 to prohibit the increase of the state income tax rate also passed.

NFIB is the voice of small business in Georgia and in Washington, D.C., and on Election Day, our voice was heard loud and clear. Tuesday’s victories were a big step toward our goal of promoting and protecting the right of our members to own, operate and grow their businesses.”

NFIB/Georgia is the state’s leading small-business association, with over 7,000 dues-paying members representing a cross section of the state’s economy.
