Expanded Sales Tax

Sales Tax on Services
This new tax was a very real threat to small business during the 2008 session as legislators scrambled to find replacement revenue for homestead property taxes.  The service tax would have hit small businesses owners hard.  Small business owners make up a large part of the service sector and are on the firing lines when consumers want to know why their dry cleaning is seven percent higher than normal.  And, small business owners themselves are big consumers of services as they often rely on outside services for help in many day-to-day operations like legal counsel, accounting, or printing.
