Senate Candidate Voices Strong Support for Small Business in Tonight’s Debate
Des Moines (October 16, 2014): The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is emphatically supporting Senator Ernst  this evening after her declaration that she cannot envision a scenario when she would raise taxes on Iowans.
During tonight’s debate, Senator Ernst unequivocally stated that she would not support a tax increase and believes that taxes need to be lowered on hard working Iowans immediately, which should then be followed by a long term solution to taxes at the federal level. NFIB State Director Kristin Failor stated that “This evening, Senator Ernst told Iowa what small business owners across the state were desperate to hear. That under no circumstances would she support a tax increase, and equally as important, that that she supports a major overhaul to the tax system nationwide.”
While Congressman Braley seemed to throw his support behind increasing taxes and spending at all levels, Ernst dug in and refused to accept a tax increase as a solution. Instead, she cited Braley’s long history of voting to raise the national debt.
NFIB SAFE Trust endorsed Ernst earlier this year, they are the organization’s political action committee.  Small business owners vote in high percentages and they are influential in their communities.  NFIB members in Iowa will continue to work hard this year to send Joni Ernst to the US Senate.
