The Economic Growth Challenge
NFIB is raising the small business flag at legislative committee hearings on various proposals. The flag is relatively simple: There are about 51,000 people without jobs and if we are going to create jobs for them as well as new entrants into the workforce, it will be vital for lawmakers to defeat measures that make job creation more expensive and support measures that make it easier for small business owners to invest in creating new jobs. Most of the new jobs will come from existing and new small firms.

We have handed out at committee hearings a listing of various reports that show Maine’s weak standing compared to other states. Like the Boston Red Sox and other sports teams that were once among the worst performing, Maine needs to focus on becoming one of the best performing states. It can be done, and it’s imperative that we do so.
