Departing Legislator Honored as a Guardian of Small Business

Date: January 27, 2015

A huge legislative loss is a big Jefferson County gain, when Rep. Libby Szabo returns home as an appointed county commissioner.
Before her departure, NFIB/Colorado State Director Tony Gagliardi honored Szabo with a Guardian of Small Business Award for her 100-percent, pro-Main-Street voting record on nine issues vital to small business during the 2013-2014 session of the Colorado Legislature.
“Awarding Libby NFIB’s Guardian of Small Business award was a bitter-sweet moment,” said Gagliardi, “bitter at losing a great legislative leader for mom-and-pop enterprises, sweet knowing that this stellar public servant will continue her advocacy for small businesses in Jefferson County.”
Szabo knew of what she spoke, being part of a family business that has been in operation for more than 40 years. Her knowledge and experience made her the choice of colleagues to serve as their assistant minority leader in the Colorado Assembly.
