NFIB Hosted
Phone Call to Discuss Critical Issues

Washington, DC (June 19,
2015)
– Earlier this week, the National
Federation of Independent Business
hosted a telephone town hall with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA)
for members across the state. Small business owners asked questions related to
the Majority Leader’s stance on issues that they care about including health
care, regulations and the minimum wage.

“I want to thank NFIB for the opportunity to talk to small
business owners throughout California and hear the challenges and concerns they
face in their everyday lives as they try to create jobs, grow and expand,” said
McCarthy. “During the teletownhall, I was constantly brought back to my small
business days running a local deli and the lessons I learned. The message I
heard was that Washington needs to rein in overregulation, reduce the tax
burden, and cut red tape. We must have the courage to lead, and the wisdom to
listen, and I appreciate everyone who took the time to share their input
today.”

Congressman McCarthy has experience as a small business
owner, having opened a deli at age 21. He learned firsthand about the
challenges of managing employees, complying with government regulations and
building for success. He sold that first business to help pay his way through
college. Small business owners appreciate having their perspective represented
in Congress.

“NFIB/California
thanks Congressman McCarthy for taking the time to speak to our small business
members from across the Golden State,” said State Executive Director John Kabateck. “He understands the many
challenges faced by job creators each day because he’s been one. We are
grateful that he is leading the way as House Majority Leader to lower taxes,
reduce regulations and stop frivolous lawsuits so small businesses can recover,
thrive and put more Americans to work.”
