Comment on Today’s State-of-the-State Speech

Date: January 22, 2015

LINCOLN, Neb., Jan. 22, 2015—Bob Hallstrom, Nebraska state director for the National Federation of Independent Business, America’s largest and leading small-business association with 350,000 dues paying members across the nation, including nearly 5,000 in Nebraska, issued the following statement on this morning’s State-of-the-State speech by Gov. Pete Ricketts.
“Nebraska small businesses were delighted to hear the governor elevate tax reduction and regulatory relief as two of his highest priorities. Calling regulations hidden job-killers that stunt economic growth is hitting the bull’s-eye for the Main Street entrepreneurs who pay almost twice as much as big businesses do in order to comply with same regulations.
“His call for property tax relief and limiting the growth of government were also welcome news for the mom-and-pop enterprises of Nebraska that employ half of all workers and generate almost every new job.”
