Bills to Punish Independent Contractors Defeated

Date: March 04, 2014

In a huge victory for small business independent contractors, NFIB teamed up with the Wyoming Trucking Association and the Wyoming Contractors Association to lobby against House Bill 016 and Senate File 112.
Both would have imposed unreasonable penalties on employers who may be falsely accused of misclassifying an employee as an independent contractor. NFIB has long fought against unreasonable audits targeting those industries that use independent contractors.
The Wyoming Legislature is tentatively scheduled to end the second half of its 2013-2014 session by midnight, Friday, March 7. Check this webpage regularly for the latest from the State Capitol.
