Attend a Hearing on Stop-Loss Insurance

The Maryland Insurance Administration will be holding a public hearing to gather information relating to the study of medical stop-loss insurance in self-funded employer health plans. Small business owners are encouraged to attend or submit written comments about how the recently enacted law, that changed the point at which stop-loss insurance
takes over from $10,000 to $22,500, will affect the way you provide health insurance for your employees.

The hearing will be held at 10 AM on Monday, September, 28, 2015 at the Maryland Insurance Administration

This
hearing is part of a study by the Maryland Insurance Administration that is required
by recent legislation that went into effect on June 1, 2015. This new law makes
it more difficult for small businesses to self-fund the insurance plans they
offer to employees. The new law changed the point at which stop-loss insurance
takes over from $10,000 to $22,500, with an aggregated attachment point of 120%
of expected claims, up from the current 115%.
