An Update from Your NFIB/Maryland State Director

Dear NFIB Maryland Member,

Thank you for your valuable membership support. It is a privilege to represent you in Annapolis, and Washington, D.C.

Hope is in the air! With an experienced businessman in the Governor’s office, and the election of two more NFIB members to the House of Delegates, the next four years allow for real opportunity to improve the states’ business climate. But we cannot sit back and hope for change, we must act.

3 Ways YOU can help strengthen the business community:

1. Small Business Day in Annapolis
We hope you enjoyed the event with guest speakers: Comptroller Peter Franchot, Secretary of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulations Kelly Schulz, and Delegate Chris Adams (D-37B). In case you missed it, view this short clip of Maryland Governor Larry Hogan in support of NFIB’s efforts.

2. Be a legislative activist. Use NFIB issue alerts to
let legislators know how legislation may impact your business. The
legislative session is a 90-day sprint. Anti-business legislation is
already being considered, such as mandatory paid leave. Thankfully,
there are also pro-business legislation that will require your support,
such as repealing indexing of the motor fuel tax and the rain tax.

Learn more about paid leave legislation, and take action.

3. Help NFIB/Maryland grow! See an NFIB logo in a store
window? Patron the business or stop in and thank them for also being a
member. Know a business owner that isn’t a member? Encourage them to
join – strength in numbers!

As you know, our mission at NFIB is to promote and protect our
members’ right to own, operate and grow your business. Wish your help,
we can make it easier for all Maryland businesses to own, operate and
grow their business in our state.

Together may we turn hope into success!

Sincerely,

Jessica Cooper
