An Update from Your NFIB/Iowa State Director

Date: August 19, 2015

There are many wonderful things about living in Iowa. Our beautiful seasons, friendly people and quality of life really can’t be compared. Every four years we experience another advantage that other states don’t have available, presidential wooing. Iowa, with our first in the nation caucus, becomes the envy of all other politically charged states.

You can find a candidate in any local coffee shop, sheep barn or even better: small business. We have a wonderful opportunity here in Iowa and I implore all our members to take advantage of it. Go to an event, ask questions, stand up and say your piece. This is what makes this country great and what we work for at NFIB every day. If you don’t know where or when a candidate may be in the state, feel free to call us.

The campaigns want your opinion and input and with small business as the backbone of this state we need to be willing to give it. Small Business in Iowa makes up 97.1 percent of the employers in the state and accounts for 51.2 percent of people who are employed.  Let your voice be heard and get involved. It’s too easy here in Iowa not to.

Franklin D. Roosevelt once said: “Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and senators and congressmen and government officials, but the voters of this country.”
