Author: bill vernon Date: May 17, 2011

Endorsed the ballot question to repeal the sales tax on alcohol in November 2010. The 6.25% levy had been imposed on previously exempt alcohol sales along with the 25% increase in the sales tax in 2009. NFIB supported the successful campaign to eliminate the tax on a tax – alcoholic beverages already being subject to an excise tax – and to support small independent package stores owners whose businesses had suffered significantly, especially those located near state borders.
