The 103rd Nebraska Legislature convened on Jan. 9, 2013. NFIB's top priorities for the session are:
Pass workers’ compensation reform
The state's small businesses must continue to fight for workers' compensation reform. Claims information should be made private. That would help discourage trial lawyers from filing unnecessary lawsuits.
Stop efforts to increase tax burden on small business
The state's focus should be on fiscal responsibility. Our business and agriculture communities cannot bear any additional burden.
Hold the line on state spending
The state starts the fiscal year with a $200 million budget shortfall. Additional reductions in state spending, rather than new or increased taxes, should be used to bridge the revenue gap.
Repeal of inheritance tax
Repeal of the onerous death tax will be a top priority in order to stop the outflow of retirees from our state.
