131 Pennsylvania Lawmakers named Guardians of Small Business

Date: September 15, 2014

Members of Pennsylvania’s leading
small business advocacy group, the National Federation of Independent Business
(NFIB), today announced 133 state lawmakers were named Guardians of Small
Business
for their outstanding voting records on behalf of Pennsylvania’s
small-business owners in the 2013-2014 session of the General Assembly.

“Small-business owners pay close attention to how
their lawmakers vote,” said NFIB’s Legislative Director Neal Lesher. “While
many lawmakers claim to support small business, the NFIB voting record proves
that these lawmakers were true and consistent advocates for small business.  When Mom-and-Pop companies succeed it will
lead to a stronger Pennsylvania economy and more jobs.”

The Guardian of Small Business Award is given to
Senators and Representatives who voted favorably on key small-business issues at
least 75 percent of the time. The voting record includes only votes on
small-business issues, not all of the votes cast during the session.  The key issues include health care, legal
reform, private property rights, competition and a variety of tax
measures.  The 2014 NFIB small business
voting record can be accessed at this link: https://www.nfib.com/pdfs/Pennsylvania-voting-record.pdf

Small businesses are the driving force behind the
Pennsylvania and national economies.
According to the state Labor Department, 98 percent of all Pennsylvania businesses employ fewer than 100
workers.  These businesses account for half
of all private sector jobs in the state.
