DARE Electronics - A Leader In Their Industry And In NFIB/Ohio

Date: April 01, 2014

In 1976 DARE Electronics began manufacturing special relays, electronic, and electro-mechanical products for the U.S. government.  Through the years, the company grew through reputation as well as through the acquisition of the Dayton Aviation Radio Equipment division of Allied Technologies.
Many of the parts originally designed by Allied Technology and the Dayton Aviation Radio Equipment division are still used today, and DARE Electronics continues to support these items in use around the world. In addition, DARE Electronics continues to support and manufacture both miniature and subminiature lines of electro-mechanical choppers which are electromechanical high-speed synchronous switching devices in electrical signals. Today, DARE Electronics manufactures more than 1,000 different standard and custom products used on a wide variety of applications.
DARE Electronics, Inc. is a woman owned small business which is a recognized leader in the design, development, and manufacture of high accuracy electronic and electromechanical devices for the military, ground support, and aerospace market.  Karen Beagle the current owner took over the business from her father and currently has just over 20 employees. Celebrating their 15th anniversary with NFIB, they have been members since 1999.
Karen originally learned of NFIB through her local chamber. At the time, she was having an issue of being a smaller business that was being squeezed out of competition by some larger firms.  She met with a representative form NFIB and has been a member ever since.
Karen enjoyed the information she received from NFIB that kept her up-to-date on both federal and state issues.  She began attending the Dayton Area Action Council and after a few years, she got more and more involved.  Today, she serves as the chair of that group and has also participated in the Small Businesses for Sensible Regulations project of NFIB, as well as attending Small Business Day at the Capitol and several NFIB/Ohio Leadership Council meetings.
“NFIB speaks form me and my issues.  Their advocacy is important to me,” said Karen.  She remains just as involved today.  Her husband Bill Beagle is currently an Ohio state senator representing District 5 which is made up of all of Miami and Preble Counties as well as portions of Darke and Montgomery.  He also maintains his own membership with NFIB for his separate business.
