NFIB is the voice of small business not only in Washington, DC, but also in all 50 state capitals. Here's a look at the top 5 worst anti-business actions we found states taking. 1) Minimum wage increases: 23 states use the federal rate, but 19 have set higher rates. Higher minimums reduce employment levels for lower skilled workers. 2) Tax increases. Less money to invest in business means fewer jobs created.
3) Paid family leave. One-size-fits-all solutions don't work.
4) Medicaid costs. FY 2012 spending increased 29% on average. 5) Unemployment insurance. Increases of $21-$63/employee. 2:50
